Damon Bankhead

In this week’s post, we turn the spotlight to current graduate student, Damon Bankhead, from Cedar Hill, Texas.  Damon is graduating this semester with a Master’s in Business Administration.  We recently talked with him about his graduate student experience at Tarleton.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

“I have various work experience in positions I’ve held such as an Operator with General Motors to being a Parcel Specialist with FedEx Office. I’ve worked for the City of Dallas, and held other various positions. I’m currently working for General Motors in Arlington, Texas, where I will apply my master’s degree in Business Administration to move up in the company.”

How did you learn about Tarleton State’s graduate programs and why did you ultimately choose to attend Tarleton for grad school?

“I learned about the Tarleton State University College of Graduate Studies through a friend that attended Tarleton’s Masters of Information Systems program.  I thought it was the most economically feasible program for me.”

What advice would you have for someone who is currently going through the grad school search and admissions process?

“I would advise them to talk with the program administrator over the program they are seeking to enroll in. I think this is the best thing for a potential student and/or graduate student to do.”

What is a typical day like for you as a Tarleton grad student?

“A typical day for me is to go to work in the morning from 6am-2pm, go to the library from 3pm-6pm, then go to the gym from 7pm-8pm, then come home, and get myself ready for the next day, so I can do it all over again.”

How do you balance school work with other obligations like work and family?

“I balance my school and work life by applying time slots for work, education, and other activities I have going on in my life.”

Tell us about your future plans after graduation.

“My future plans after graduation are extending my career with GM forward, writing a book, as well as attending a doctorate program in either finance, economics, or some other business related field.”

COGS wishes Damon much success in his future endeavors!
